The centrepiece of the update is an expanded 8.5-inch OLED display, enabled by 24% thinner bezels compared to the 8.3-inch screen on the 2024 model. Customers can also configure the panel with Apple’s nano-texture glass option for reduced glare.

The OLED panel delivers:

  • Peak Brightness: Up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, double the maximum output of its predecessor, with 600 nits sustained full-screen brightness across SDR and HDR content.
  • Contrast: A 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
  • Acoustic Audio: Custom woofers embedded directly behind the display layer to boost low-end frequencies, coupled with tweeters integrated between the touchscreen glass and aluminium frame.
  • Durability Rating: An IP67 rating for dust and water resistance within a fully sealed chassis.

The new tablet is powered by the A20 Pro system-on-a-chip, which debuted with the iPhone 18 Pro series. The upgraded processor features enhanced CPU capabilities for everyday multitasking alongside onboard neural processing tailored for localized artificial intelligence workloads.

Connectivity receives a total overhaul via internal silicon components:

  • N1 Wireless Chip: Delivers support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread smart-home networking.
  • C2 Cellular Modem: Cellular variants feature Apple’s proprietary C2 modem, promising 50% faster mobile data transfer speeds over previous generations.
