Volkswagen has announced a partnership with Swiss gaming developer N-Dream to integrate the AirConsole casual gaming platform directly into its 2027 model-year vehicles. The in-vehicle entertainment system launches with an initial catalogue of 20 titles, headlined by Tetris, alongside Pac-Man Championship Edition and Uno Car Party.

The AirConsole platform will come embedded within the central infotainment software of Volkswagen’s 2027 lineup, covering the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R, and the fully electric ID series. To adhere to automotive safety standards, the gaming interface operates strictly while the vehicle is parked.
Rather than utilizing dedicated physical gamepads or steering wheel controls, the system relies on personal smartphones as wireless controllers. Passengers connect their mobile devices by scanning a pairing code on the vehicle’s primary display screen, allowing multiple occupants to participate simultaneously in local multiplayer sessions without additional hardware peripherals.
Beyond standard software emulation, Volkswagen has incorporated hardware-level vehicle feedback into select titles. Interior ambient lighting in supported models dynamically synchronizes with real-time gameplay events to heighten visual immersion inside the cabin.
The software package also includes a custom Volkswagen-themed iteration of Pac-Man. In this customized variant, traditional power pellets are replaced with corporate Volkswagen logos, while standard fruit collectibles are swapped for digital representations of the brand’s vehicles.

Access to the AirConsole catalogue is packaged within Volkswagen’s broader “In-Vehicle Premium” connected services suite, which also provides onboard Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, enhanced navigation functions, and remote telematics.
Volkswagen will include a complimentary three-month trial of the premium service with most new 2027 vehicle purchases. Following the initial trial period, continued access to the AirConsole gaming library and associated connected services carries a subscription fee of $149 per year.
