Ubisoft has officially pulled back the curtain on Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, confirming that the highly anticipated remake will launch on July 9, 2026. Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, this is a ground-up reconstruction rather than a simple port, boasting visual fidelity that rivals recent titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

While Edward Kenway remains the star, the remake introduces significant gameplay overhauls to bring the 2013 classic into the modern era:
- Enhanced Exploration: A brand-new weather system adds unpredictability to the high seas, paired with a completely upgraded underwater exploration mechanic.
- Refined Combat & Stealth: Combat has been tuned to feel more fluid, and the stealth mechanics have been modernized. Crucially, the “instant-fail” stealth segments from the original have been adjusted so that being spotted no longer automatically ends a mission.
- New Companions: The remake adds new crew members to your ship, including a feline companion that accompanies you during land exploration.
One notable detail from the reveal trailer is the total absence of the “modern-day” Abstergo segments set in Montreal. This supports ongoing rumours that Ubisoft may be stripping out the contemporary meta-narrative to focus entirely on the 18th-century Caribbean setting. Whether these segments have been cut or simply reimagined remains to be seen.
As fans prepare to return to the Caribbean, Ubisoft is also looking ahead to the next mainline entry, currently known as Codename Hexe. Described as a “darker, narrative-driven experience,” Hexe is expected to deviate from the traditional series formula to explore a pivotal, more macabre moment in history.
