In 2026, securing major concert tickets can feel nearly impossible for everyday listeners. To combat this friction, Spotify has announced Reserved, a new ticketing feature designed to identify an artist’s most dedicated streaming audience and hold pairs of tickets specifically for them.

Launching first in the United States before expanding internationally, the program requires users to be at least 18 years old and hold an active Premium subscription. The service bypasses traditional ticketing chaos by offering selected users a dedicated, one-day purchasing window before sales open to the general public. Spotify will evaluate listening data, playlist share history, and account behaviour to verify “real fans” while actively monitoring Premium profiles to filter out malicious scalper bots.
However, Spotify cautions that a slot is not guaranteed, as the number of designated superfans will routinely outpace a venue’s physical seating capacity. Availability will ultimately fluctuate by artist, tour, and geographic location. Eligible listeners will receive alerts via email and in-app notifications. To secure the feature, Spotify has signed a multi-year agreement with Live Nation, the largest concert promoter in the US. While allocations are weighted toward a user’s local venue, selected fans retain the flexibility to purchase tickets for any scheduled tour date.
The Reserved ticketing program debuted during Spotify’s 2026 Investor Day event alongside Studio, a standalone desktop application. Studio introduces an integrated AI agent capable of generating personalized multimedia content based on a user’s favourite music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
The software can link directly with a user’s email and calendar applications to generate contextual listening recommendations. For instance, it can operate alongside Spotify’s Personal Podcasts framework to synthesize hyper-customized daily audio briefs. Observers note that the utility provides a convenient avenue for the streaming giant to aggregate deeper consumer productivity data to train its next-generation machine learning models.
Just how much Reserved will alleviate the ticket-buying crisis remains to be seen. Industry experts point out that beyond automated scalping, the primary issue with modern ticketing is that available seats are routinely fragmented into countless tiny pre-sale pools. Ironically, Spotify is already a participant in this ecosystem through its existing app-based presales, and this latest feature will likely pull even more tickets into another exclusive, segmented pot.
