The US president-elect has brought up funding for Ukraine, nepotism, and corruption

US President-elect Donald Trump has mocked the economic agenda of his predecessor, using a meme involving funding for Ukraine and the recently pardoned Hunter Biden.

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden gave his son a blanket pardon for anything he may have done between January 2014 and December 2024.

Trump’s campaign slammed the decision as an example of how the current government has weaponized the justice system.

On Tuesday evening, Trump shared a meme on his Truth Social platform, describing how ‘Bidenomics’ works in practice. It showed Biden standing beside a whiteboard with a list of items.

“You pay taxes,” the list begins. “I send it to Ukraine. They send it back to Hunter. Hunter gives it to me. Pardon Hunter.”

Hunter Biden was paid enormous sums to sit on the board of a Ukrainian gas company while his father was vice president and point man on Washington’s relations with Kiev. According to the contents of a laptop the younger Biden forgot at a Delaware repair shop, 10% of all international contracts went to “the Big Guy,” widely assumed to be a reference to his father.

Biden officially defeated Trump in 2020 and embarked on an ambitious plan to reinvent the US economy after the Covid-19 pandemic that his advisers dubbed ‘Bidenomics’. Vice President Kamala Harris, whom the Democrats put forth as their candidate this year, spent the campaign insisting that the economy was in great shape and that ‘Bidenomics’ was working.

American voters apparently disagreed, giving Trump a victory in the electoral college, popular vote, and all seven swing states.
