Reginald Vanderbilt inherited $10 million from his father, according to his 1925 obituary in Time magazine. When adjusted for inflation, his net worth would have equaled around $180 million in 2024.

Reginald Vanderbilt was married twice. He and his second wife, Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, had one daughter together, also named Gloria. She grew up to be a fashion designer and mother of CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

After struggles with gambling and alcoholism, Reginald Vanderbilt died at Sandy Point Farm at age 45 in 1925.
