This week’s dispatch

Would you date your coworker?

Cuffing season — y’know, the time of year when it seems everyone is down to date more seriously — is upon us. And despite the many landmines to navigate dating successfully in the office, many will see someone at work who catches their eye.

To successfully “swipe right” in the office, there are some rules you should follow, according to two human resource professionals who spoke to Business Insider’s Jordan Hart.

HR consultant Cheryl Swirnow said to ensure that both people “can maintain professionalism and navigate any potential challenges that arise.” HR specialist Christopher Sheekey added to “take extra care to follow all workplace policies” — especially if you’re dating a direct report.

Based on their advice, BI compiled best practices to keep your relationship out of HR’s office. Minimize PDA, leave the relationship drama at home, and never badmouth your ex to coworkers.

Good luck, lovers.

Airbnb arbitrage

Gen Z has a new side hustle: Airbnb superhosting. On TikTok and Instagram, precocious twenty-somethings not-so-humbly brag about subletting their rentals, claiming to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Like modern incarnations of Dave Ramsey, they’re also selling pricey courses promising to show you how to quit your job and get rich like them. Critics — and in some cases, the law — be damned.

Hey Airbnb, welcome to my crib.

Wall Street’s favorite trends

With bonus season nearly upon us, BI took to the Street to find out how insiders spend their money. Trends vary by seniority, but there’s one thing they all agree on: Loud luxury and logo-forward fashion are out.

Instead, finance’s movers and shakers are splashing out on posh sporting events, home organizers, and handcrafted jewelry — among other things.

See their top picks.

Six days in Basel

The banks of the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland.

Basel, Switzerland is a traveler’s dream. The streets are lined with medieval buildings, window displays are filled with Swiss delicacies, and historic art is around every corner.

The city is also located where Switzerland, France, and Germany converge, making it a convenient location for travel. BI’s reporter spent a few days in Basel, and fell in love with the area’s stunning nature and all its neighboring towns.

Why the Swiss town is worth a trip.

The canned booze revolution

Canned booze is far from a new concept. On-the-go beverages like Mike’s Hard Lemonade and White Claw have been around for a while and contain an ABV similar to beer: 4% to 6%.

But since the pandemic, the trend has gotten more popular and boozier. Now, you can pick up a pack of canned negronis or a supercharged version of a hard seltzer on your way to the park. Just make sure to double check the ABV first — or be prepared to face the consequences.

What’s got Americans buzzing.
