Barentu, 03 September 2024 – The Gash Barka Regional Administration held an activity assessment meeting on 29 and 30 August in Barentu. The meeting reviewed the progress of programs implemented during the first half of 2024 in collaboration with the public, members of the Defense Forces, and other government bodies. Discussions also focused on the implementation plans for the second half of the year.
The meeting was attended by department and branch heads in the regional administration, sub-zone administrators, Military commanders, representatives of the regional assembly and PFDJ, among others.
Key topics included the review of program implementations across various sectors such as agriculture and land management, construction, statistics and cartographic information system, culture and sports, trade, and innovation. The discussions highlighted both the achievements registered and the challenges faced. The meeting particularly noted the commendable contributions made by members of the Defense Forces.
Sub-zone administrators also presented reports on efforts to strengthen public organizations, improve administrative services, enhance water and soil conservation activities, and support the families of martyrs and disadvantaged citizens.
Ambassador Mahmud Ali Hirui, the Governor of the region, praised the strong public participation in the execution of the programs and called for intensified involvement in the upcoming initiatives for the second half of 2024, especially in the agricultural sector and in water and soil conservation.
Participants engaged in extensive discussions on the report and put forward several recommendations for future action.
