Xiaomi has officially launched its flagship Pro 18 smartphone lineup, introducing the Xiaomi 18 Pro and the higher-tier Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Unveiled during the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, the series represents one of the initial commercial deployments of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 mobile platform, with the Pro Max variant running an enhanced iteration of the processing silicon.

A major technical highlight of the Pro 18 series is its integrated display privacy architecture, engineered to restrict off-angle viewing and prevent visual eavesdropping in public environments. Unlike standard display privacy solutions, Xiaomi’s software provides granular controls tailored to individual application usage.
When activated for specific applications, such as mobile banking platforms or confidential communication tools, the system automatically shields incoming notifications, split-screen interfaces, and floating windows from side viewing angles. The privacy layer can be triggered manually using a dedicated side hardware button, automatically through location-based parameters, or proactively via front-facing camera sensors that detect potential onlookers and prompt the user to enable protection.
Primary displays utilize LTPO AMOLED panels featuring a 1–120Hz variable refresh rate, 2K resolution, and a peak brightness rating of 4,000 nits. The 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch panel, while the 18 Pro Max expands to a 6.9-inch display. Both handsets retain secondary rear displays carried over from the previous generation, allowing users to view incoming notifications and interact with compact widgets generated through Xiaomi’s Xiao AI assistant.

Both models share an identical triple rear camera array, combining a 200-megapixel primary sensor with a 23mm lens, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with a 75mm focal length, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Internal battery capacities have expanded across both models, with the 18 Pro housing a 7,000mAh battery and the 18 Pro Max containing an 8,500mAh cell. Both handsets support 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 27W reverse wireless charging. Base hardware configurations include 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The devices are available in black, white, pink, and blue, alongside a special-edition red option featuring a semi-transparent rear panel. In China, pricing starts at 5,999 yuan (approximately R14,600) for the 18 Pro and 6,999 yuan (approximately R17,100) for the 18 Pro Max, with a broader international rollout scheduled for later this year.
