Sentech, South Africa’s national digital infrastructure provider, will participate as headline sponsor and exhibitor at the fifth annual Future of Work Dialogue 2026, taking place on 30 September and 1 October 2026 at The Maslow Hotel, Time Square, Menlyn Maine, Pretoria.
Convened by the Institute for the Future of Work at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), the Dialogue brings together policymakers, industry leaders, academia and technology partners to explore how Africa can respond to the rapidly changing world of work and the opportunities presented by the digital economy.
The 2026 Dialogue, themed Turning the Developmental Tide: Advancing Africa’s Resilient Future Through AI-Enabled Innovation Pathways comes at a time when artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and innovation are reshaping economies, workplaces and the skills required for future growth.
For Sentech, the conversation connects directly to its role in enabling digital inclusion and supporting the infrastructure, skills and innovation ecosystems needed for a digitally connected society.
A key focus of Sentech’s participation will be the Sentech Academy for Emerging Technologies and Innovation (SAETI), which supports digital skills development, research, executive education and the practical adoption of emerging technologies. The Academy’s physical presence at TUT’s Institute for the Future of Work has been agreed and is being implemented, with Sentech and the Institute developing a roadmap for further joint initiatives.
Through SAETI, Sentech and TUT are strengthening the link between academia and industry, with a focus on applied innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and mission-critical connectivity, including 450MHz networks for utilities and critical infrastructure sectors.
“Digital infrastructure creates opportunity when people have the skills and support to use it,” said Dr Dumisa Ngwenya, Sentech’s head of Research & Innovation. “Through the Sentech Academy and our work with TUT, we want to connect learning, applied innovation and industry needs. The Dialogue provides an opportunity to translate these relationships into practical initiatives and engage with stakeholders across government, academia, industry and the technology ecosystem on areas of mutual interest.”
As the two-day programme unfolds, Sentech will contribute to discussions on the role of digital infrastructure, emerging technologies and skills development in advancing a more connected and digitally inclusive society.
