Britam Uganda has been certified as a Top Employer Africa 2026 for the second consecutive year, reaffirming the company’s commitment to people-centred leadership and a high-performance workplace culture.
The recognition, awarded by the Top Employers Institute (TEI), follows Britam’s successful recertification across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Mozambique, positioning the financial services group among Africa’s leading employers prioritising employee wellbeing, inclusion, and talent development.
The certification underscores Britam’s sustained investment in building a workplace where employees are empowered to grow, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to organisational success. Through deliberate and progressive people practices, the group continues to nurture an inclusive, purpose-driven culture aligned with its pan-African growth strategy.
Guided by its purpose–Safeguarding Dreams and Aspirations–Britam places people at the centre of its operations. Employee engagement platforms such as Life@Britam, leadership and personal development initiatives including She Thrives, ManCave, Women in Leadership, and Men of Purpose, as well as holistic wellbeing support through the Employee Assistance Programme, form the foundation of the company’s people strategy.

Commenting on the recognition, Britam Uganda Chief Executive Officer, Allan Mafabi, said the certification reinforces the link between employee support and customer value creation.
“This recognition reinforces the connection between how we support our people and the value we deliver to customers. In Uganda, our focus remains on building capable teams that drive growth, service excellence, and long-term impact in the market,” Mafabi said.
At the regional level, Britam Group Managing Director and CEO, Tom Gitogo, attributed the achievement to the organisation’s workforce–known internally as the Blue Tribe.
“This recognition reflects the strength of our culture and the commitment of our people across the region. Britam’s success is anchored in the passion, innovation, and shared values of the Blue Tribe. Being recognised again as a Top Employer in Africa across four countries reinforces our resolve to continuously invest in our people as we build a resilient, future-ready organisation,” Gitogo noted.
HR Director, Evelyne Munyoki, said the certification signals positive progress in the company’s evolving people practices.
“The forward momentum created by being certified as a Top Employer Africa 2026 signals that our people practices are evolving in the right direction. It reflects the intentional work we continue to do to strengthen inclusion, support wellbeing, and create environments where our people can perform, grow, and feel a sense of belonging across all our markets,” Munyoki said.
The Top Employers Institute CEO, Adrian Seligman, praised Britam’s consistency across markets, describing the recognition as a reflection of organisational maturity and strong leadership alignment.
“Being recognised as a Regional Top Employer for 2026 is a significant achievement that reflects the strength and consistency of Britam’s people strategy across multiple countries. Britam’s ability to scale strategy while remaining responsive to diverse markets demonstrates exceptional organisational discipline and a mature approach to driving business performance across borders,” Seligman said.
In Uganda, Britam emerged as the top-ranked employer among four certified companies, further cementing its position as a leading employer in the country’s financial services sector.
