Training in Sign Language

Asmara, 13 March 2025 – A three-month sign language training program was provided to 82 students of Asmara Technical School.

Highlighting the significance of the training in assisting citizens with hearing impairments in their daily lives, Mr. Lamek Kiflemariam, a sign language trainer, called for increased support for individuals with hearing impairments.

Mr. Semere Werede, director of the school, noted that the students have developed the ability to communicate with individuals with hearing impairments and encouraged them to continue improving their sign language skills through practical application.

Mr. Woldemicael Siele, chairman of the National Association of Hearing Impaired, provided a briefing on the association’s ongoing efforts to expand the training program nationwide.
