The FBI has launched a task force to investigate threats made against Tesla, an agency official confirmed Monday.
Ben Williamson, the assistant director for public affairs at the FBI, said in a post on X that the task force was launched with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “to coordinate investigative activity and crack down on violent Tesla attacks.”
The announcement came after a series of attacks and acts of vandalism against Tesla vehicles and showrooms around the country, as well as protests against Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO and a close advisor to President Donald Trump.
On Monday, police in Austin said they found “incendiary” devices at a Tesla showroom.
“This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in an X post.
The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
