PlayStation to discontinue physical game discs in 2028
Sony has announced a historic restructuring of its gaming ecosystem, confirming that PlayStation will transition entirely to a digital-only distribution model. Production of physical game discs will be permanently discontinued starting January 2028, after which all new PlayStation titles will be sold exclusively via digital downloads and retail product keys.
