Passenger train derails after bridge collapse in Russia: Live updates

Four people have been killed and dozens more injured

A bridge overpass collapsed onto railway tracks, causing a passenger train to derail in the western Russian region of Bryansk on Saturday evening.

First responders are working to rescue people from the wreckage. Health officials told RT that four people were killed and 24 injured, while other outlets have reported the number of injured as high as 44.

The newspaper Izvestia cited health officials as saying that the bridge was brought down by an explosion. Multiple Telegram channels have claimed it was an act of sabotage.
