NUEW organizes ‘Literature competition’

Asmara, 09 December 2023 – The National Union of Eritrean Women in collaboration with partners organized literature competition under the theme “Invest on Women for Better Future”

The competition conducted yesterday, 8 December, focused on the activities being conducted with the view of empowering women and ensuring their equality.

At the event in which Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, President of NUEW, as well as a number of Government officials and representatives of various UN institutions attended, Ms. Senait Mehari, Head of Socio-Economic Services of the union stated that the objective of the competition was to reflect the journey toward full emancipation of the Eritrean Women.

Ms. Senait also stated that at the competition twenty-six articles were presented in Tigrigna and English.

UN Resident Coordinator in Eritrea, Mr. Aeneas C. Chuma, UNFPA representative in Eritrea, Mr. Keita Ohashi on their part, affirming that Eritrea has registered encouraging achievement in ensuring gender equality and participation of women, expressed their firm conviction that the competition will play significant role in the success of the efforts being exerted in the eradication of harmful practices.
