General Auditor’s Five-Year Strategic Plan

Asmara, 21 March 2024 – The General Auditor’s Office held a discussion forum today, 21 March, at the Asmara Municipality Hall to deliberate on the strategic plan for the period 2024-2028. The event saw participation from representatives of stakeholders and government institutions.

During the meeting, Mr. Amanuel Isak, Head of Audit Information System and Information Technology Administration, provided a comprehensive briefing on the strategic plan’s mission, goals, objectives, and expected outcomes.

Mr. Amanuel highlighted that the five-year strategic plan focuses on ensuring transparent and accountable policy implementation, enhancing institutional and administrative capacities, providing sustainable capacity-building training programs, and strengthening the standard auditing system and services.

Mr. Gebrezgiabhier Gebremedhin

Mr. Gebrezgiabhier Gebremedhin, Eritrea’s Auditor General, spoke about the importance of strategic planning in enhancing the work efficiency of institutions. He noted that the new five-year strategic plan is part of an ongoing effort to improve institutional performance.

Furthermore, Mr. Gebrezgiabhier called on all partners to actively participate in the implementation of the strategic plan, emphasizing the collective effort required for its success.

The Office of the Auditor General, established in May 1992 by Proclamation No. 23/1992 and further defined by Legal Notice 14/1993, is tasked with auditing or facilitating audits of all government institutions, parastatals, and state-owned enterprises.
