One of the most significant improvements is the device’s IP68 rating, which makes it both dust-tight and highly water-resistant. This is a major step up from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which only has an IPX8 rating for water resistance and a lower rating for dust. An IP68 rating means the Pixel 10 Pro Fold can be submerged in water deeper than one meter for up to 30 minutes, offering users enhanced durability.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first foldable smartphone to feature Qi2 wireless charging, a standard that will pair perfectly with Google’s new PixelSnap platform, the company’s answer to Apple’s MagSafe.

In terms of design and specs, the phone boasts a solid build. It has a 6.4-inch external OLED display and an 8-inch internal display when unfolded, both protected by a durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover. The hinge is made from a high-grade aluminium alloy, promising a sturdy feel.

The device is powered by a Google Tensor G5 chip, along with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It also features a triple rear camera system, including a 48MP wide lens, a 10.5MP ultrawide lens with macro focus, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens.

Google claims the battery can last for a full 24 hours, and its Extreme Battery Saver software can extend that to an impressive 84 hours. Additionally, the phone can charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes.

The new Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be priced starting at $1,799 and is scheduled to be available on October 9, a few weeks after the other new Pixel phones launch on August 29.
