Eritreans in Various Countries Celebrate Independence Day Anniversary

Asmara, 28 May 2025 – Eritrean nationals in Uganda, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and the United States have celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal under the theme “Our Cohesion – Our Armour.”

The celebration in Kampala on 23 May was attended by over 2,000 nationals. Mr. Mohammed Suleiman, Eritrean Ambassador, said that this year’s theme reflects the perseverance and commitment of the Eritrean people in achieving independence and safeguarding national sovereignty. He also extended congratulations to the people and Government of Eritrea as well as to Eritrean Defense Forces.

The event featured sports competitions, a children’s village, as well as cultural and artistic programs.

Nationals in the Italian cities of Milan, Bologna, Florence, Turin, Naples, Palermo, Padua, and others enthusiastically celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary on 25 May.

Likewise, nationals in various cities across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland marked the 34th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic fervor, featuring diverse programs to commemorate the occasion.

At the celebratory event in Stockholm on 24 May, Mr. Mohammed-Seid Mohammed-Ali, Chargé d’Affaires at the Eritrean Embassy for Scandinavian countries, called on nationals to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills and to play an active role in national affairs.

Nationals in Los Angeles and surrounding areas also celebrated the 34th Independence Day anniversary with a variety of programs.
