Diaspora nationals commemorate Martyrs Day 

 Asmara, 25 June 2024- Nationals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal.

The commemorative event in the Netherland cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Amersfoort, the Hague, Leiden and Utrecht featured candle light vigil and cultural programs depicting the day. The national also expressed conviction to live up to the expectations of the martyrs and contributed 35 thousand 432 Euros towards augmenting the National Trust Fund and assumed the responsibility of supporting 34 families of martyrs.

The commemorative event in Dammam, Saudi Arabia was highlighted with candle vigil and cultural programs and members of the National Union of Eritrean Women pledged to assume the responsibility of supporting additional 3 families of martyrs. It is to be recalled that the members have already took the responsibility of supporting 57 families of martyrs.

Nationals in Zimbabwe and KwaZulu-Natal and other cities in South Africa enthusiastically commemorated Martyrs Day featuring candle vigil various programs. They also pledged to strengthen contribution towards boosting the National Trust Fund and support to families of martyrs.

Similarly, national in the cities of South Sudan including in Juba, Aweil, Bentiu, Nimule, Yambio and Yei commemorated Martyrs Day featuring candel vigil, walkathon as well as cultural and artistic programs. They also extended monetary contribution towards augmenting the Martyrs Trust Fund.
