Massawa, 31 January 2025 – Ms. Zeineb Omar, Chairperson of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Northern Red Sea Region, announced that the 35th anniversary of the Fenkil Operation will be commemorated from 7 to 9 February under the theme “Fenkil—the Right Choice.”
Ms. Zeineb noted that the event will feature a variety of activities, including sports competitions, general knowledge contests, the Fenkil award ceremony, seminars, and community gatherings.
She also highlighted that the commemoration will include displays by members of the Defense Forces, exhibitions of innovation and creativity by secondary school students, street cultural shows, and a seminar on the history of marine transportation by the EPLF and conflict resolution strategies.
Additionally, a tour to the nearby Green Island commenced on 29 January at an affordable price, and Ms. Zeineb encouraged the public to take advantage of the opportunity.
A half-marathon competition, with athletes from Eritrea, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan participating, will also be part of the celebrations.
