Amazon’s highly anticipated limited series, Blade Runner 2099, is officially slated for a 2026 release on Prime Video. The show, which serves as a sequel to the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049, is now in post-production after a production delay due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. The title suggests the series will take place five decades after the events of the last movie in a dystopian Los Angeles.

Original director Ridley Scott is attached as an executive producer, with Silka Luisa serving as the showrunner. The series will star an impressive cast led by Michelle Yeoh as a Blade Runner named Olwen, who is “confronting the end of her life.” She will be joined by Hunter Schafer as Cora, a replicant who has spent her life on the run.
The plot will follow the two as they become entangled in a conspiracy that poses an existential threat to their city. The cast also includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Daniel Rigby, along with recurring roles for Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham.
With a promising cast and the return of a key figure from the franchise, fans can look forward to a new chapter in the Blade Runner universe.
