All hostages in Russian prison rescued

One of the terrorists has reportedly been killed and three more were injured during the storming of the correctional facility in Volgograd

Security forces were successful in storming the Volgograd prison where several inmates had attacked guards and taken hostages earlier on Friday, according to Russian authorities. One of the terrorists has reportedly been killed while three others were injured. All the hostages have been released.

According to WarGonzo, a Telegram channel, one of the hostage takers was wearing a suicide belt which failed to go off. It remains unclear whether or not the belt was real.

Media reports, citing court records, have also claimed that the identities of the attackers have been confirmed. One of the four suspects had been imprisoned for murder while the other three were convicted on drug trafficking charges. The suspects are supposedly natives of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
