Africa: Kenya Pipeline MD Joe Sang – ‘Why Volleyball Team Will Do Well At Africa Club Championships’

NAIROBI —  Kenya Pipeline’s national under 20 women’s volleyball team have been backed to fly the national flag high at this month’s African Club Championships in Egypt.

Kenya Pipeline Company managing director Joe Sang says the team have exhibited consistency, discipline and commitment qualities throughout their journey.

“Our team emerged as the third best team in Africa in 2024 and 2025 consecutively. This year, your victory will help elevate Kenya’s name and our brand as a company. Victory for our team will be defined by how well we play as a united team,” Sang said during a flag-off ceremony on Wednesday morning.

He further urged the team to exude teamwork, trust and tenacity at all times, emphasising that these values will be key to ensure they bring home the winning trophy.

“Support one another. Trust one another and be resilient during the games. Respect decisions made by the technical bench and we will have synergy that is necessary for a great win,” the MD added.

On top of their sponsorship, the team stand to receive Ksh 1 million should they reach the semis and a further Ksh 2 million, if they progress to the finals.

The MD further promised a bigger surprise should the girls win the tournament.

Head coach Geoffrey Sang revealed that they have started residential training at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani ahead of final selection.

The team have boosted their ranks with promising talents from last year’s national school games, some as young as 16 and 17 years.
