Workshops on Ensuring Integrated Agricultural Development

Barentu, 13 March 2025 – Workshops focusing on ensuring “nutritious food for all and everywhere,” as well as promoting integrated family agricultural activities, small- and medium-scale agro-businesses, and small productive farm plots, were conducted in the 13 sub-zones of the Gash Barka Region.

During the workshops, extensive discussions were held on the importance of integrated efforts by the National Union of Eritrean Women, the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students, and the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing the 2024–2028 five-year strategic plan. The discussions also emphasized the significance of integrated agricultural activities compared to individual efforts.

Mr. Tesfay Negash, head of planning and statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture, stated that the objective of the workshop was to enhance the understanding of youth and women regarding the importance of integrated agricultural activities and to enable them to play a crucial role in ensuring access to nutritious food for all.

The administrators of the sub-zones, on their part, called on area administrators and agricultural experts to actively contribute to the successful implementation of integrated agricultural initiatives.

The participants engaged in extensive discussions on the issues raised during the workshop and adopted various recommendations.
