Kristen Bell says her kids aren’t ‘Frozen’ fans, but like that it’ll pay for their college

Kristen Bell says her kids don’t like the “Frozen” movies, but know they are what will fund them through college.

Bell played Anna, princess of Arendelle, in 2013’s “Frozen” and its 2019 sequel.

The first film was a huge success and grossed $1.28 billion, according to Box Office Mojo, with “Frozen II” reaching $1.45 billion.

That ranks them among top few animated movies ever. It has the pop-culture clout to match, with oceans of toys, costumes, and the inescapable chorus of “Frozen’s” lead song, “Let It Go.”

But Bell, who has two daughters with Dax Shepherd, the host of “Armchair Expert,” told Vanity Fair her children aren’t fans.

She said: “They certainly appreciate it in the fact that they can go to college because of it, but they’re not part of the ‘Frozen’ phenomenon.

“Because kids are meant to make you feel grounded and they are meant to reject things their parents are involved in. Even if they secretly liked it, they would never tell me.”

Bell also praised Disney for letting her make Anna into a more realistic character than a stereotypical Disney princess.

She said: “When I finally got the opportunity, I was thrilled and it occurred to me, that I would do anything they asked me to, but what I should be valiantly striving for is to create a character that I really needed to see when I was 11 years old, which was someone like this character.”

The star, who recently appeared in Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” didn’t say how much she was paid for “Frozen” and “Frozen 2.”

She’s due to reprise the role in “Frozen 3” and “Frozen 4,” which are both in development at Disney, suggesting the company thinks the franchise still has road ahead.

According to Box Office Mojo, the box-office figures for “Frozen 2” made it the third highest-grossing animated movie of all time. It was beaten by two other Disney movies: 2019’s “The Lion King,” which made $1. 662 billion, and 2024’s “Inside Out 2,” which earned $1.694 billion.
