Here are the highest-paying jobs in America

Ophthalmologist is one of the highest-paying jobs in the US, according to estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics published its newest annual wage estimates.
Average annual pay for pediatric surgeons and cardiologists was greater than $400,000.
Sports competitors, neurologists, and psychiatrists are three other jobs with six-figure averages.

Pediatric surgeon is the highest-paying job in the US with an average annual wage of $449,320.

That’s roughly seven times higher than the $65,470 average for all occupations.

Some other high-paying jobs based on average annual wages were dermatologists, pathologists, and chief executives.

Business Insider looked at the latest average pay figures for detailed-level occupations from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program. The most recent update published earlier this month includes estimates for May 2023 wages and employment.

There are a lot of high-paying jobs in the US that make over $100,000 on average. Some job titles even have averages greater than $300,000. That includes radiologists, which had an average annual wage of $353,960, and anesthesiologists, which had an average annual wage of $339,470.

Many healthcare jobs made the top of the list of the highest-paying work in the US. However, athletes and sports competitors were part of the top 10 highest-paying occupations. Financial managers, another non-medical job, made the top 30 highest-paying jobs based on average annual wages.
