CD Projekt Red capped off Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase with the announcement of a complete remake of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which includes both of its original DLC expansions. Scheduled to launch on September 29, the overhauled title will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners, which extends to a free Nintendo Switch 2 update for players who purchased the game on the original Switch platform.

Beyond expected visual upgrades, the remake introduces significant mechanical changes to core gameplay systems. The skill tree and combat mechanics have been extensively revised, incorporating refined targeting, adjusted camera perspectives, and brand-new execution finishers. Traversal feels noticeably smoother when controlling Geralt, and mount handling for Roach has been rebalanced to improve overall movement fluidity.
