Arriving shortly after the 25th anniversary of the Game Boy Advance’s US release, retro hardware maker Ayaneo has revealed its latest handheld: the Konkr Pocket Advance. Designed as a modern tribute to Nintendo’s iconic horizontal handheld, the device pairs classic ergonomics with upgraded display technology, expanded controls, and contemporary connectivity.

At the centre of the Konkr Pocket Advance is a 3.5-inch LCD panel that preserves the original handheld’s native 3:2 aspect ratio, while scaling the display to a crisp 960 x 640 resolution.
To accommodate modern emulation and software needs, Ayaneo expanded the original button layout and retrofitted the chassis with current-gen IO:
- Controls: A full ABXY face-button layout, additional navigation menu buttons, and extra shoulder triggers.
- Connectivity: A USB-C port, a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Retro Details: A 3.5mm headphone jack and a physical side-mounted volume wheel.
Ayaneo showcased two initial colour options that pay direct homage to classic Game Boy Advance finishes:

While Ayaneo has not yet announced pricing or a target release window, enthusiasts are hoping for a larger production run to avoid the immediate stock shortages that impacted the company’s limited Pocket Micro 2 release.
