Google to launch new Pixel phones on August 12th

Google has officially announced that it will unveil its next generation of Pixel devices on August 12, 2026. Breaking from historical precedent, the search giant plans to host the launch event during the evening, allowing consumer tech enthusiasts and media to watch the hardware team’s latest reveals outside of standard working hours.

This year’s showcase arrives during a turbulent period for the consumer electronics supply chain. Driven by persistent global memory and component shortages that have driven up manufacturing costs across the industry, the Pixel 10 rollout is expected to feature a more subdued approach to hardware upgrades.

Most notably, recent supply chain leaks suggest that Google will entirely phase out the 128GB baseline storage configuration across the entire phone lineup. Instead, the entry-level models will start at a roomier 256GB. While a higher storage baseline is typically viewed as a consumer win, the change is reportedly a strategic manoeuvre to offset production pressures, and Google is expected to increase the base retail price of the smartphones as a direct result.

A separate early rumour hinted that Google might mitigate rising component costs by reducing the allocation of system RAM on select configurations. However, that speculation has lost traction among mobile analysts in recent weeks.

On the processing front, the upcoming devices are confirmed to debut a new iteration of Google’s proprietary silicon chip. The new Tensor processor will replace the aging architecture of previous models, though insiders note that performance benchmarks point to modest, iterative efficiency gains rather than a radical leap in processing speed.

As always, prerelease leaks should be treated with healthy scepticism. Google will provide definitive confirmation of specifications, pricing tiers, and regional availability when the presentation streams live on August 12.
