Discord has officially arrived on Meta Quest headsets as a native application, fulfilling a highly anticipated crossover first announced during the Meta Connect conference. While resourceful virtual reality enthusiasts have relied on sideloading and various cobbled-together workarounds to access the platform in the interim, the official native app introduces a drastically optimized and seamless user experience.

The native Meta Quest app brings the platform’s signature desktop and mobile ecosystem directly into virtual reality. Users can effortlessly navigate their existing servers, hop into direct messages (DMs), and join voice calls just as they would on any other device.
Rather than simply acting as a flat port, the application leverages the Quest’s hardware capabilities to offer several tailored VR features:
- Hardware Optimization: Voice channels automatically synchronize with the Quest headset’s built-in microphone for crisp, hands-free audio.
- In-Game Overlay: Users can physically pin the Discord user interface directly inside their active 3D play space, enabling them to chat and view server activity while actively playing VR titles.
- Direct Gameplay Streaming: The app supports broadcasting live gameplay directly from the Meta Quest headset to friends and servers over Discord.
- Avatar Support: For users who prefer a more virtual presentation, the app integrates with custom Meta avatars, allowing them to visibly represent players during live Discord video calls.
