Tiger Woods involved in vehicle rollover in Florida

Golf superstar Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday, authorities said.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m., the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Further details were not immediately available.

In 2021, the golfer was injured in a rollover crash in Rolling Hills Estates in Southern California. Authorities said he was driving at least twice the speed limit in a 45 mph zone when his Genesis GV80 SUV struck a tree, causing the vehicle to fly through the air and land on its side.

Woods suffered serious injuries in that previous crash.

Officials said at the time there were no signs of impairment, although that finding caused some backlash. Investigators came under scrutiny for failing to get a search warrant for the golfer’s blood samples, which could have detected any evidence of alcohol or drugs.

Woods was not charged in that 2021 crash. The athlete had previously checked himself into a clinic in 2017 for prescription medication following an arrest that year for driving under the influence in Florida.
