Keanu Reeves returns for AAA John Wick action game

Lionsgate and Saber Interactive have officially announced a new, high-budget John Wick title that promises to bring the franchise’s signature “gun-fu” to life. In a move that will thrill fans, Keanu Reeves is confirmed to portray the legendary assassin, lending both his voice and physical likeness to the project. Developed by Saber Interactive, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the currently untitled game is being built for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is described as a “mature,” single-player, third-person action experience that aims to translate the cinematic intensity of the films into a highly tactile gaming format.

Unlike many licensed tie-ins, this project features deep involvement from the franchise’s core creators. Both star Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski are active participants in the production, ensuring the character’s movements and voice are authentically represented. Game director Jesus Iglesias noted that the game will feature an original narrative that explores a “significant time” in Wick’s life, bridging gaps in the existing lore.

While the specific plot remains under wraps, the development team has confirmed that players will encounter a mix of iconic characters from the films alongside a new cast of allies and enemies designed specifically for the interactive medium.

The gameplay is being engineered to replicate the “unparalleled, adrenaline-fueled” fighting style that made the films a global phenomenon. The developers are promising a hard-hitting combat system that seamlessly blends martial arts with precision firearm play, supported by “jaw-dropping” camerawork to maintain a cinematic feel. Beyond the close-quarters combat, the game will include intense driving experiences and a bold range of immersive environments, all designed to pull players deeper into the dark, neon-lit underworld of the Continental.

This announcement marks the first major John Wick gaming project since 2019’s John Wick Hex, a stylized strategy game that was recently delisted from digital storefronts. By pivoting to a AAA third-person action model, Saber Interactive looks to provide the visceral, fast-paced experience that has defined the series’ massive box-office success. While there is currently no release date, Saber’s recent track record with large-scale action titles like Jurassic Park: Survival suggests a project of significant scale and ambition.
