New trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie unveils Yoshi


The cosmos just got a lot more crowded. During the recent The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct, Nintendo unveiled a brand-new trailer confirming that several fan-favourite characters are officially joining the cast. Most notably, the trailer gives us our first high-definition look at Yoshi, confirming the design that was infamously leaked via a Pillsbury cookie box last autumn. To the delight of long-time fans, Birdo was also revealed to be part of the intergalactic crew.

The event brought a mix of technical and logistical news for eager fans:

  • Post-Production: The film has officially moved out of primary animation and into the final post-production phase.
  • New Release Date: Originally slated for April 3, the movie’s release has been bumped up by two days. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now scheduled to hit theatres on April 1, 2026.
