Iran is announcing it will not execute a protester who was hours from death but will remain behind bars. It was enough for President Donald Trump to his pause on military intervention as he weighs his response to the deadly crackdown. Protestors have faced direct gunfire from Iranian forces with human rights groups saying one U.S.-based advocacy group estimates at least 2,500 people are dead. U.S. troops have now evacuated from a major base in Qatar after Iran threatened to target them. NBC’s Keir Simmons reports for TODAY.
