After a wait of nearly three and a half years since Season 4 premiered, Netflix has dropped the official, full-length trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Fans finally have a substantial look at the emotional and action-packed conclusion to the retro-soaked adventure series, with the first instalment set to drop on November 26.

The two-minute-plus trailer is loaded with footage, making it clear that the stakes are higher than ever before. It leans heavily on action and raw emotion, dialling back the 1980s-style humour the show is known for. This tonal shift reflects the critical situation the characters face.
The footage confirms the core group is trapped in Hawkins following the devastating events of the previous season. The trailer shows the town is under military enclosure, and, unsurprisingly, the villainous Vecna is back and driven by vengeance.
One particularly scary scene suggests Vecna is exerting powerful control over, or actively torturing, Will Byers, underscoring the extreme tension the final season will deliver. Showrunners have also promised that this season will finally reveal the full truth about the Upside Down, providing answers to one of the series’ central mysteries.
Unlike many Netflix shows, the final season will not be a single drop. The season is being split into three separate instalments across the holiday period:
- First Batch of Episodes: November 26
- Second Batch of Episodes: December 25 (Christmas Day)
- The Final Episode: December 31 (New Year’s Eve), which will also be released in select movie theatres.
While Stranger Things is ending its run, the franchise is far from over. Netflix has announced plans for future spinoffs, though the original series creators, the Duffer Brothers, will not be serving as showrunners for those projects. The pair recently signed a major deal with Paramount for their next endeavours.
