Sony has announced the Xperia 10 VII, a new midrange Android phone that marks the first significant change to the series’ rear design in over five years. The phone is launching in the UK, Europe, and Asia, but will not be available in the U.S.

Departing from the brand’s signature vertical camera stack, the Xperia 10 VII features a horizontal, pill-shaped camera bar that runs across the top of the matte plastic back. This new look is reminiscent of recent Google Pixel and even Apple iPhone designs. The phone comes in black, white, or turquoise, and its design language signals a new direction for the Xperia line.
While the back is new, the front of the Xperia 10 VII remains distinctly Sony. It maintains the brand’s characteristic chunky bezels above and below the 120Hz 6.1-inch display. This design choice makes it slightly less compact than its screen size suggests, but the phone is still smaller and lighter than many competitors. It also moves away from the classic 21:9 aspect ratio in favor of a more standard 19.5:9.
The phone retains several other fan-favorite features, including a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and front-facing stereo speakers. It also has a robust IP65/68 water and dust resistance rating and a side-mounted camera shutter button.
Under the hood, the Xperia 10 VII is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It features a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. The 5,000mAh battery is expected to last up to two days, though it is limited to wired charging.
The Xperia 10 VII is priced at €449 / £399 and is available for pre-order now, with shipping beginning on September 19.
