FIM and MotoGP suspend the MotoE World Championship

The FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) and MotoGP have announced that the MotoE electric bike world championship will be put on indefinite hiatus after the conclusion of the 2025 season. The decision was made due to a lack of viewership and a slower-than-expected development of the electric performance motorcycle market.

“Despite all the best efforts to promote this innovative category, the truth is that we haven’t reached our objectives,” said FIM President Jorge Viegas. The final two races of the 2025 season will be held as scheduled before the suspension takes effect. The organizations stated they will continue to monitor the industry to determine if and when electric bikes become relevant enough to support a robust racing schedule again.

The MotoE series began in 2019 with a limited schedule of six four-round races. It saw some initial growth, expanding to 16 races over eight rounds at its peak. However, the schedule was cut back to just seven rounds for the 2025 season.
