Asmara, 25 November 2023- The National Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disability of Eritrea held its 4th congress in Asmara today, 25 November.
At the workshop which senior Government and PFDJ officials attended, Mr. Mihreteab Fesehaye, Director General of Social Services at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, said that the association has conducted encouraging activities in collaboration with partners since its inception 23 years ago, including capacity building and awareness raising programs and the enhancement of organizational capacity.
Mr. Mihreteab also called for reviewing strengths and challenges and designing viable future programs on the basis of the past experience gained.
Indicating that previously citizens with intellectual and developmental disability have been facing enormous challenges due to the lack of understanding of the public, Col. Berhane Bokretsion, chairman of the association, said that efforts are being exerted to support the disabled citizens and their caretakers and the public to understand the problems of the citizens with the disability and provide them the necessary assistance.
The National Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disability of Eritrea was established on 25 November 2010.
